Communication of conscious thought from one brain to another, as well as other forms of synthetic telepathy, have a number of commercial applications. These include:
Identification of sources of harassment for victims of abuse from telepathic technologies.
Identification of sources of data loss due to abuse of telepathic technologies.
Identification and localization of other types of perpetrators who abuse telepathic technologies.
Accurate lie detection. When you are pressed on a question and lie your consciousness leaks the fact that you are telling a lie. You have to think about lieing and this is detectable. This would be useful in court or to verify oaths or contractual intent.
Criminal and terrorist investigation. Synthetic telepathy from a distance would allow the investigator to investigate for criminal or terrorist thoughts. Interrogation would be much simpler if one could tell when the suspect was lieing.
Diagnosis of mental conditions. Functional imaging is becoming more popular and provides a means of assessing brain activity. Actual communication of thought would allow the doctor much easier comprehension than an eeg graph. Eeg graphs are difficult to interpret.
Brain computer interfaces. These might be particularily useful for handicapped persons.
Communication, telepathic communication may be preferable to normal radio/phone communication in some circumstances.
